Ten imaginative mixed media portraits, assembled from nothing but the scraps of information available on her subjects’ public social media profiles.
Taking as its starting point the alienating experience of dating apps such as Tinder, Blight-Anderson turns the form on its head to produce intimate and personal glimpses of the character and felt realities of her subjects.
Instead of all being fit into the same stereotypical box, the subjects’ personalities ooze out from behind the denim, the resin and the woodwork that make each portrait a unique expression of the subject.
Visitors will be encouraged to treat the exhibition like an avant-garde dating app, swiping left or right on a specially produced online catalogue.
After the exhibition closes, the subjects of the portraits will be provided with the details of their admirers, further subverting the conventional online dating experience.
